Chicago Pride Fest | June 22-23, 2019

Chicago’s annual Pride Fest celebrates 50 years, beginning June 22 in Boystown. The two-day pre-Pride festival includes performances by LeAnn Rimes – Betty Who – Alex Newell – Ultra Naté – Inaya Day and more  on the Main Stage at North Halsted and Grace.

The event culminates June 30 with the Pride parade. Lakeside Pride, the organizers of Chicago’s annual gay pride parade, announced a handful of Grand Marshals for this year.

The Youth Grand Marshal is Molly Pinta, one of the founders of Buffalo Grove Pride. BGP is holding its first parade and festival in June, just a couple of weeks before Chicago’s Pride.

The Organizational Grand Marshal is Indivisible Aurora. They held the first suburban Pride in the Chicago metro area and was the inspiration for Molly Pinta and other throughout the suburbs. The 2019 Aurora Pride Parade and Festival was almost canceled because of increased costs until the community raised more than $18,000 in less than 24 hours to keep it going.

So far, two of the three Legacy Grand Marshals have been named: Joel Hall, community activist and founder of the Joel Hall Dance Company and Jim Flint, community activist and owner of the Baton Show Lounge.
