Equality Project INC presents the 6th annual Chicago Red Dress Party at 1446 W. Kinzie Ave. The erubescent fundraising event is dedicated to raising awareness for the HIV/AIDS movement and to building a strong, unified LGBT and allied community. This year’s entertainment line-up includes Coco Peru, RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Yara Sofia, Candace Jordan and Chicago’s own, Queen of the Pineapples, Lucy Foozie!

Red attire required! Why? In the early 1990’s, two gentlemen were dating when they both contracted HIV/AIDS. To show their love and dedication to one another, they vowed when one of them passed away the other would attend their funeral adorned in a red dress. From this promise the concept of the Red Dress Party began. Currently, there are Red Dress Parties all over the United States from Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas, Orlando, Dallas, Chicago.
