Spring break kicked off this week and while cities like Miami and Cancun are synonymous for legendary nightlife and extravagant Spring Break parties, Ft. Lauderdale has become notorious for its – versatile LGBT revelry.  From dance clubs to dungeons, drag shows to local shops, brunch to bears, Ft. Lauderdale – more specifically, Wilton Manors, has your gay needs covered.


Royal Palms Resort & Spa   

This LGBT-friendly resort is situated in the historic art-deco area of Ft. Lauderdale. Walking distance to the beach, this newly reimagined resort is surrounded by classic South Florida architecture and boasts a Melrose Place type feel. The chic mod style rooms surround a relaxing pool and sun-bathing area.  Amenities include a fitness center, yoga, shop, three restaurants and a spa, which offers everything a gay boy needs from teeth whitening to spray tans. On Sundays, from 2-6pm, the resort comes alive at the property’s Royal Palms restaurant and bar, just off of second pool area. Just blocks from the beach, the luxurious property offers an award-winning spa, inviting pool, clothing optional Jacuzzi area, seductive scenery. Georgie’s Alibi is a staple of Wilton Manors. This classic neighborhood bar offers pool, drag shows, patio dining and drink specials daily.

Just across the street is Village Pub.This attitude free pub offers up a relaxing atmosphere during the day to work or have lunch. By night, you can catch sports in the Pub Bar, dance on the dance floor, catch a show, or chat up a hottie on the patio.

The Manor Complex is Wilton Manors’ epic nightclub. From the moment you are greeted at the door by their signature drag host Lady Guy, you’ll encounter a combination of vintage style and cosmopolitan sophistication. The two level nightclub is adorned with an abundance of crystal chandeliers, a covered outside arcade with a modern flair, a large performance stage. The nightclub hosts regular infamous events, from massive dance parties to runway shows and concerts.

Hunter’s, just across the plaza from Georgie’s is a nifty nightspot, especially on Sunday nights, when the DJ rocks awesome 70’s and 80’s hits. The dance floor is packed and the bar staff is sociable. The best place to take it all in is the second floor balcony area.
