Orlando Drag Queen Ginger Minj Announced as Contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7

Once again, an Orlando queen will appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Season 7, which launches in January, will feature Orlando’s own Ginger Minj. The announcement of the season seven contestants came live December 7 during Art Basel in Miami at the “2014 New Now Next Awards.” Although even before Bianca Del Rio snatched the crown in Season 6, rumors were circulating about who would appear on the upcoming season. Since April, Reddit & Dragaholic.com were abuzz about Minj being the next “drag superstar.” Although most close to the dragtastic performer noticed her absence, she came up with probably one of the more inventive rouses to explain. In August, she began posting to her social medias that she had contracted MRSA.

Of course, not everybody bought it…

And then, a miraculous recovery!

Minj holds a multitude of drag titles including Miss Comedy Queen, Twisters of Central Florida, Miss Sawmill, Miss Metropolitan Continental Plus, Miss Missouri Continental Plus, Miss Minnesota Continental Plus and Miss Florida International Plus. Minj’s alter ego Joshua Eads-Brown has been involved in theatre since the age of four, taking on both male and female roles, including two sold-out runs starring in Hedwig & The Angry Inch. Minj along with the equally enchanting Minx currently host the paramount production that is Broadway Brunch every Sunday at Hamburger Mary’s in Orlando. When not performing on a number of stages across Central Florida, Minj can also be found every Wednesday night fondling balls as the highest paid Bingo caller at Parliament House.
