St. Pete Pride | June 27 – 29, 2014
On Friday, June 27, The State Theater will play host to “27/82,” a fundraising concert to assist in funding various Tampa Bay community organizations. The concert features The Real L Word’s Hunter Valentine, Macklemore’s Same Love vocalist Mary Lambert, local sensation Connor Zwetsch, and others.
The concert is being presented by St Pete Pride and Sarasota Pride, and the proceeds will go to the St Pete Pride Community Grants Program. This grant program insures that every cent raised will go to Tampa Bay area non-profit groups that are helping build up the Tampa Bay community. “2782: The After Party will be at Georgie’s Alibi, located at 3400 3rd Ave N in St Pete, beginning at 11pm.
The St Pete Pride Festival will be held Sunday, June 29, in St Pete beginning at 11am with a parade and continuing with a street festival until 6pm. This year’s Grand Marshals are Darden Rice and Jay Aller. Rice is a newly elected City Council Memeber, and the first openly gay person to run for public office in St Petersburg. Aller has been an active member of Tampa Bay’s LGBT community since 1998, and is the Resource Development Manager for AIDS Service Association of Pinellas. With more than 300 exhibitors, multiple stages, and attendance of more than 20,000 people, the Festival has something for everyone. High Energy vocalist Vernessa Mitchell will headline the event with her hits “Accept me!” & “Rise.”
