Enter to Win ‘THE FEAST OF THE BROKEN HEART’ From Hercules & Love Affair
Big Beat/Atlantic Records announces the release of the much-anticipated new album from dance music icons Hercules & Love Affair. THE FEAST OF THE BROKEN HEART arrives everywhere now.
Hercules & Love Affair’s third and most versatile album to date, THE FEAST OF THE BROKEN HEART sees visionary founder Andy Butler and his ever-evolving musical collective pushing the boundaries of house music, disco, and pop to create a collection of stunningly original new dancefloor anthems. Tracks like the banging “Do You Feel The Same?” highlight a remarkable roll call of diverse vocal talents, including critically acclaimed singer/songwriters Krystle Warren and John Grant as well as new discoveries Gustaph and Rouge Mary (see attached tracklisting). Produced by Butler in collaboration with Viennese electro specialists Ha-Ze Factory and industrial pioneer Mark Pistel (Consolidated, Michael Franti), THE FEAST OF THE BROKEN HEART is Hercules & Love Affair at its provocative, propulsive best, coupling emotionally powerful songcraft with daring dancefloor experimentalism.
THE FEAST OF THE BROKEN HEART is heralded by the breathtaking new single, “I Try To Talk To You (Feat. John Grant).”

“I Try To Talk To You” has quickly drawn ecstatic attention from an array of influential outlets, with Logo’s NewNowNext applauding the song as “a hauntingly beautiful track (recounting) how Grant, a 2014 BRIT Award nominee, learned he was HIV-positive.” “(Grant) not only supplies his haunting vocals to the piano-led tune, but contributes some deeply revelatory lyrics to boot,” noted MTV’s Buzzworthy blog. “Despite the heavy subject matter, ‘I Try To Talk To You’ shines as a poetic, delicately throbbing tale.” “(Hercules & Love Affair and John Grant) blend their dichotomous elements brilliantly,” declared Consequence of Sound (CoS), “with Grant offering a hushed and silky croon over a sweat-soaked blend of disco drums, chirpy synths, and New Wave piano. It’s a bit little country, a little bit Berlin circa 1978, and a whole lot of fun.”
Long hailed as a transcendent live act, Hercules & Love Affair will celebrate “THE FEAST OF THE BROKEN HEART” with a series of North American showcases, scheduled for late June; a coast-to-coast concert tour is then slated for the fall – full details will be announced soon. In the meantime, Hercules & Love Affair will rock the house on a major European tour encompassing headline dates, festival appearances, and a number of exclusive Andy Butler DJ sets. Hercules & Love Affair arrived with 2008’s extraordinary debut single, “Blind (Feat. Antony Hegarty),” and immediately ascended to the highest echelon of contemporary dance music. Backed by a constantly changing line-up of vocalists and musicians, the Denver-born Butler proved a sensation with his unlikely blend of Greek mythology, classicist pop smarts, and the awe-inspiring canons of club music and electronica. 2008’s “HERCULES & LOVE AFFAIR” was acclaimed both here and abroad, with Pitchfork declaring it “the most original American dance album in a long while.” “BLUE SONGS” followed in 2011, confirming Hercules & Love Affair’s incredible vision and creativity as Butler recast Chicago house for the new millennium. Like its predecessor, the album reaped widespread applause from such major publications as Rolling Stone, which praised “Butler’s diverse songwriting,” noting “(Hercules & Love Affair) make club jams that transcend the club.”
