Oh no, he didn’t! BIG FREEDIA to set Twerking GUINNESS WORLD RECORD®
Fuse announced today that it will be hosting Record Breaking Booty Shaking: Break the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® Twerk Record with Big Freedia, a never-before-attempted large-scale twerking event on Wednesday, September 25 in connection with the upcoming launch of brand new original series Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce. While twerking has recently gone mainstream and created quite the pop culture phenomenon, the dance actually originates from the 20+ year old New Orleans Bounce scene, of which Big Freedia is the undisputed queen. To get in on the fun and bounce your way into the record books, visit Fuse.tv for more information about the event and to register to participate.
Starting at 12:00 p.m., Fuse and Big Freedia will take over Herald Square at 34th Street and 6th Avenue to conduct the largest twerking session to ever take place, with over 250 dancers hitting the floor and shaking their booties for two consecutive minutes in the center of Manhattan. GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS will be onsite to document the event and verify the dancer count for its records. Upon welcoming all participants at noon, Big Freedia will take to the stage and perform fan favorite “Excuse” before commencing with the main event. After 120 seconds of non-stop twerk, and a new record-setting achievement in the bag, Big Freedia will perform “Duffy” off her upcoming EP Queen of Bounce to celebrate and close out the afternoon.
With local hero and compelling personality Big Freedia as its guide, Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, Fuse’s new unscripted series, explores the underground world of the New Orleans hip hop scene known as “Bounce.” Viewers will join Big Freedia as she preps for her first international tour, works through her mother’s illness and navigates the extremely competitive world of hip hop. The docu-series will also welcome fellow artists — Mr. Ghetto, Sissy Nobby and Katey Red. Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce is executive produced and directed by Jeremy Simmons, executive produced by Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, and Tom Campbell and produced by World of Wonder (RuPaul’s Drag Race, Million Dollar Listing, Life with La Toya). The series, set to run for eight episodes, will air Wednesdays at 11p/10c beginning October 2.
